Four-Year Strategy Plan
After the May 2019 election, a Community Engagement Study and workshops informed the Council in identifying a new strategy and focus areas.
The Council’s strategy aims to:
“inspire the local community with assets, activities and opportunities to promote people’s health, happiness and well-being”
To achieve this strategy the Council will focus on:

Planning & Transportation
Encompassing how we move around the parish and how the parish develops.
- Work in conjunction with the Highways team at Bracknell Forest Council (BFC) and Neighbourhood Action Working Group (NAWG) to focus on road safety and traffic management.
- Explore options for moving around the parish including sustainable routes by walking, cycling and public transport.
- Continue to be proactive in the planning cycle and build on our evidence base (e.g. the Landscape Character Assessment) for use by Planning.
- Review and update the Railton Traffic Survey
- Consider air quality on and around the highways
- Work towards an updated version of the Neighbourhood Plan covering 2021 – 2036.
Natural Environment
How we protect, enhance, and use our open spaces
- Support and encourage community litter picking and waste reduction.
- Improve the quality of open spaces including improved biodiversity and access.Ensure this accords with other plans such as Bracknell Forest Council Biodiversity Action Plan plus any other plans for climate change issued by the Borough Council.
- Collaborate with other local groups to raise awareness of the impact of climate change and local initiatives to help
Community Wellbeing
Events and activities to support mental and physical wellbeing across all sections of the community
- Explore options for increasing youth services and provision in Binfield
- Encourage social activities for older people
- Support appropriate community events – Binfield 10K, Summer of Fun, Arts Week
Facilities
Improve the range of spaces available to support the widest range of activities
- Investigate the opportunities to improve sports facilities in and around the Parish.
- Support new and existing community facilities to cater for an increasing population within the Parish.
Operational Effectiveness
A set of principles to ensure more efficient operation of the Parish Council.
Communication
Timely communication supports effective decision making and improves collaboration between officers and members. Communication is key to effective running of the parish council.
Information
Resource sharing between officers and members is necessary to ensure effective decision making.
Governance and Accountability
Necessary to ensure that the Council conducts itself and its business in a lawful, timely manner.
Cost Management
Ensure the Council manages itself in the interests of the people of the Parish of Binfield.
